Data is one of the most important assets of any organisation, this is especially true in the NHS which generates colossal amounts of data and relies on it to understand how it is performing. Reliable information is the key to any analysis, and the KMHIS data warehouse team has many years experience managing NHS data to ensure it is consistent and reliable. The data is extracted and processed automatically saving analytical staff many hours and allowing them to concentrate on analysis.
Our data warehouse is the most complete and comprehensive store of NHS data in Kent and Medway. It contains acute data (Commissioning Dataset and Payment by Results) from the Secondary Uses Services (SUS) for all Kent and Medway residents whether treated in the four acute trusts or out of the area.
It also includes data directly extracted from Medway NHS Foundation Trust and East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust patient administration systems, community data from NHS Medway and NHS Eastern and Coastal Kent, costing data as used by the Acute Contracting Team and significant steps are being made to include data from primary care.
By using a central data warehouse where all your data is in one place and can be linked together, the value and potential of that data is significantly enhanced. Cross-sector, cross-boundary information can be used for care pathways or predicting re-admissions, and economies of scale can be achieved such as pseudonymisation.
