Green IT

Are your IT operations Green and Sustainable?

  • The Government has initiated legislation to reduce Carbon emissions by 20% by 2020
  • The NHS strategy ‘Saving Carbon, Improving Health’ sets a target for NHS trusts to reduce their carbon emissions by at least 10% between 2007 and 2015

Complying with the new legislation is mandatory for all other government organisations, including social enterprises.

Kent and Medway Health Informatics Service can assist you in managing your organisation’s sustainability agenda. We have developed a Sustainability Strategy and, using the Green ICT Workbook, we can assist you in establishing how green and sustainable your IT operations are.

In addition, we can help your business to be 'more green' in its outlook through a range of options covering policy advice or solutions that can help you to lower carbon emissions and reduce costs.

We have improved server workload performance, reduced risk and lowered costs by  simplifying ongoing management of server workloads across mixed IT environments for our customers.

Whether you want to reduce the running costs of your IT, explore ‘Cloud’ computing, develop your green policy, or simply save on the time and expense of staff travel costs by introducing an alternative solution like desk top video conferencing, we can help.

As a business the KMHIS keeps abreast of green issues and government initiatives to reduce the CO2 emissions of the health organisations it serves and its own carbon footprint. Our staff are encouraged to think green on your behalf.
